New Windows 10 features allow users to control windows interface with the help of eye

The Microsoft Windows 10 operating system will soon receive support for the interface management system with a glance. A report on this was published in the Microsoft blog .

This is a project that started back in 2014, when a former player of the National Football League (NFL) Steve Gleason, suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (BAS), suggested that Microsoft developers help him expand his capabilities, in particular Gleason wanted to manage his own chair independently .

The decision of this task was taken by a team of employees of the company within the framework of the internal hackaton. As a result, the developers have created an armchair control system with the help of a glance aimed at the screen of the tablet. As a result, this project was recognized as the winner of the hackathon. However, the story did not end there - after the end of the contest the company created a team that, in cooperation with NGOs involved in helping those suffering from BAS, began to refine the idea for its subsequent implementation in Windows.

As Ferra writes , the Eye Control system is designed to replace the mouse and keyboard. It allows you to quickly enter text with eye movements: the user, looking at the virtual keyboard, pauses to look at the first letter of the word, and then can quickly see through all the following symbols to type the whole word. As noted in the company, this technology allows you to type the text much faster than similar developments.

Participants in the Windows Insiders testing program can already try out the features of Eye Control, and officially the system will be available with the update of Windows 10 Fall Creators Update this fall. To use this functionality, you need the Eye-Controller 4C controller from Tobii.
